Fish Tornado

Under the Sea With the Cousteaus for Town & Country

xPugliese Joe Cousteau 06 650x395 Under the Sea With the Cousteaus for Town & Country

Joe Pugliese forayed into uncharted territory for Town & Country‘s Philanthropy Issue, capturing Céline and Fabien Cousteau at the Maritime Aquarium in Norwalk, Connecticut.

“Every shoot sticks with me in one way or another, but a project like this is above and beyond,” Pugliese remarked. “Céline and Fabien are the granddaughter and grandson of Jacques Cousteau, an iconic figure and probably the only household name from the maritime world … and they’re carrying on his legacy in such a wonderful manner.”

Pugliese made a portrait of the sister-and-brother duo in evening wear for the cover, before the Cousteaus plunged into a 110,000-gallon tank containing four native species of shark.

Park in Austria is submerged 10m deep each June

Park in Austria is submerged 10m deep each June

Don’t forget to bring your swim fins, dive mask, scuba cylinders, and wet suit. No, we’re not going to the beach, we’re going to the park. Grüner See (Green Lake) is a lake located in Styria, Austria. Though it’s pretty much your normal, crystal-clear, emerald-green hued lake, it does however, have one noteworthy attraction.

The lake has a fluctuating depth that leaves a park completely submerged in as much as 10 meters deep. That’s the equivalent of a three-story building. This happens around June, when the spring heat has melted the snow off the nearby glacial summits of the surrounding Karst Mountains.

Though not a very friendly place for dog-walking or jogging at this time of year, it is a favourite spot for divers. There are spectacular diving sights in this underwater park, such as a submerged bridge, bench and trees. Marc Henauer, a diving enthusiast and photographer, was able to capture the underwater scenery while he was there.

10-foot long Bobbit Worm: the most terrifying creature we’ve seen

10-foot long Bobbit Worm: the most terrifying creature we’ve seen

This creature is probably the most terrifying thing we’ve ever seen. It’s called a Bobbit Worm, and it hides in the ocean floor waiting to catch its prey. It’s ‘a mix between the Mongolian death worm, the Graboids from Tremorsthe Bugs from Starship Troopers, and a rainbow’.

It can grow up to 10-ft. long, and it’s one of the most mysterious scientific discoveries currently being researched. It’s name is derived from the story of John and Lorena Bobbit, which we’re not exactly comfortable discussing. If you know the story, you’ll get the reference.

Abandoned underwater strip club in Eilat, Israel

Abandoned underwater strip club in Eilat, Israel

We’ve heard of exclusive clubs before, but it seems as if this abandoned underwater strip club was pretty difficult to get in during its day. The completely air-tight structure was previously an underground restaurant in Eilat, Israel, before it was converted into a strip club. It’s definitely an interesting concept, although it doesn’t seem to have worked out well. Talk about a room with a view…
